Gradings take place every 4 months and there are 8 levels up to black belt.
The first, which is a novice assessment, is taken at the instructors discretion and can be taken at any time between grading.

We have a set syllabus for senior and junior students to follow to assist with their progression throughout the different grades.

The minimum training time required between grades are:

Seniors
 

Novice to Red belt (7th kyu).......................... 32hrs
Red to Yellow belt (6th kyu)........................... 32hrs
Yellow to Orange belt (5th kyu)...................... 32hrs
Orange to Green belt (4th kyu)....................... 36hrs
Green to Blue belt (3rd kyu)........................... 40hrs
Blue to Purple belt (2nd kyu).......................... 46hrs
Purple to Brown belt (1st kyu)........................ 54hrs
Brown to Black belt a minimum of 6 months  

Juniors 16 years and under

Novice to Red belt (Junior 7th kyu)......................... 32hrs
Red to Yellow belt (Junior 6th kyu)......................... 32hrs
Yellow to Orange belt (Junior 5th kyu)..................... 32hrs
Orange to Green belt (Junior 4th kyu)...................... 36hrs

Tatami Rats

There is a separate syllabus for those under the age of 11 known as the ‘Tatami Rats’.

All successful students will receive a certificate of achievement and the success will be recorded in their licence books.

On joining students will receive a licence and insurance certificate together with a relevant syllabus.
